New Zion Leads in Community  Transformation Drive
  - “Pastor Joe Cantu Nominated to Lead Westside        Churches”

“If there is one thing I would like to see in 2006, it is to see the west side of Houston, transformed by the power of God”. – Pastor Don Keathley

There has been a growing hunger in New Zion for a while to see a move of God on the west side of Houston.

Recently, Pastors Don Keathley, Gbolahan Faluade and Joe Cantu had some series of meetings with the church leadership of the city of Houston in the persons of Jim Herrington, Brian Gowan and Steve Capper who are overseeing CityFest Houston – A citywide outreach Festival by the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association

During those meetings, there was a discovery of a mutual vision by all present of a desire to see revival in the church and spiritual transformation in our community.

Jim Herrington asked New Zion to provide organization and leadership to the effort on the west side of town.

Pastor Joe Cantu was nominated as the Community Service Area Facilitator for CSA 39 an area that includes over 35 multi-denominational churches, while Pastor Gbolahan Faluade was tapped at a later meeting to lead Community Prayers and Intercessions.

Since then, there has been many meetings held in the area and churches are now meeting together regularly to seek the heart of God on the subject.
