| Recent data statistics revealed that the state of Texas is 4th in the nation when it comes to people who experience hunger. 498,800 individuals in the Houston area need assistance with food each year. 1 in 5 children in Harris County live at or below the poverty level. More than 727,000 Gulf Coast residents live in poverty.
