What A Blast!
  - 2006 Fall Festival, A Special Report
   Friday, November 3, 2006

The Children’s Festival was a great success. 214 families registered at an average of 3 per family which will equal over 600 in attendance.

They came from all around the community, children from Thornwood and Shadowbriar Elementary Schools, Sendera and LiveOak Apartments and the surrounding subdivisions on the west side of Houston.

By the time it was all over, 20+ people had given their lives to Christ in a multi racial response.

Some of the respondents to the altar call came back the next Sunday morning. One of them Latasha Johnson (not her real name) with a friend. She said she will be bringing her nephew the following Sunday. Even though she has not read the bible she was given, she did add “The bible is such a big book and I don’t know where to begin. I will be very glad to be part of a class where Christian Basics are taught.

Another one of the respondents Reynaldo Longoria (not his real name) when contacted in the course of the week said he has been reading the bible he was given and was currently at Chapter 6 of Genesis.

Another of the respondents said “The Lord opened my eyes to certain things I was feeling, now I need more wisdom and knowledge. She too will like to be part of a Christian Basics Class.

Senior Pastor - Pastor Don Keathley

Pastor Brito who pastors the Hispanic Outreach Church of New Zion also came back with good reports as some of those who gave their lives to the Lord on Saturday were present in church the next day.

Pastor Joe Cantu the outreach Pastor said in an email circulated amongst church staff “Truly, a transformation is taking place in our community, and the people of New Zion are making a difference in what God is doing! Let’s continue to walk and work together  in His vineyard and for His glory”

Truly, a transformation is taking place in our community, and the people of New Zion are making a difference in what God is doing!
